Alabama FC/Birmingham United Soccer Association is one of the largest soccer clubs in the Southeast, but AFC and BUSA care about more than just soccer. This is evident when the players and coaches team up to make a positive impact in the community off the field.
BUSA players across the Academy, Competitive, Alabaster, SCCL, ECRL, and ECNL teams participated in the annual AFC/BUSA Serves Day project.
Here are some of the charities and projects our team’s participated working with:
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama, Restoration Academy, Shelby County Backpack Buddies program, Manna Ministries, and Little Hands Serving Hearts to name a few of the many places our players and families served,
Andrew Brower, Executive Director of Alabama FC and Birmingham United Soccer Association said, “As AFC/BUSA move into its fall season, the work this summer has considerably strengthened the foundation of the club. AFC/BUSA Serves Day is a great reminder that one of the main goals of AFC and BUSA is to impact those around us so that we can leave our mark on making our community a better place.”

May 5th, 2021,
BUSA, Capital City Streaks, and Fusion FC, announce plans to form a deeper relationship to best serve all players in Alabama. Starting in May of 2021, and continuing on-going integration for the next 12 months, the three clubs will be working collectively to advance the soccer landscape in Alabama. All teams in each respective club will be re-branded under the Alabama FC name and plan to all wear the same uniforms by the Fall of 2022. All club teams will synonymously be registered in one central registration house to allow for more player development opportunities and thus more chances to best serve players in different parts of Alabama. We plan to add several more clubs in the next year under the Alabama FC banner, and look forward to continuing to empower soccer players in Alabama for the next generation by working together for a common goal.

We share many common values and philosophies that without a doubt will help us better serve our players and families. We can continue not only to develop our players by creating different training and competitive environments, but also by growing the game in Alabama. This is definitely an exciting day for the River Region, our club, players and coaches”.

The ECNL created the ECNL Regional Leagues as an important platform addition for players and clubs to fuel the development of their players and to provide a proving ground in competition.
We are proud to announce that we will be joining ECRL from U13 and above age groups for the 2022 season and beyond.
ECRL will be replacing our existing SCCL model for our 2nd teams. SCCL will still be a part of the club pathway for our u12 age group and available for more competitive-minded teams seeking more than the Alabama state league.
This is what BUSA/Alabama FC Executive Director has to say “We are excited to see the launch of the ECRL as addition and extension of our current SCCL teams and league. The ECRL will be a great tool for our membership as all players at the top of our player pyramid will be able to be rostered in the same registration house side by side with the ECNL. This will be a great resource for player development pathways and something that will help continue to raise the standard of soccer in Alabama. We are also thrilled that our ECRL teams will be able to play in showcases that our current ECNL teams attend as this will be a massive uptick in recruiting and college visibility. We look forward to seeing our teams, players and coaches grow and thrive starting this fall.”

Racing Louisville FC will start pre-season training this week with upwards of 30 players — a combination of those under contract and non-roster invitees — while anticipating more arrivals soon ahead of the NWSL expansion club’s launch this spring.
“We are delighted that preseason is finally here,” said Racing Head Coach Christy Holly. “There has been a lot of work accomplished off the field to ensure we have everything ready for players to, as we say around here, run with us on the first day of training.
“These next couple of months give us a tremendous opportunity to build the team chemistry. They’ll allow the players to familiarize themselves with each other and ultimately further align themselves with where want to go as an organization.”
During their first preseason, Racing’s players will train at a variety of locations as the finishing touches are put on a multimillion dollar facility at Champions Park a few miles east of downtown. The grounds already offer turf fields for use, while nearby Lynn Family Stadium and Thurman Hutchins Park have natural grass surfaces available pending weather.

USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter has chosen a 25-player roster that includes Tanner Tessman in advance of USA-Trinidad & Tobago on Jan. 31 in Orlando.
The group was selected from an initial list of 12 senior team players and 26 U-23 MNT players that began training on Jan. 9 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
At the start of a crucial year for the U.S. Men’s National Team that includes the Concacaf Nations League Final Four, the Gold Cup and the start of 2022 World Cup Qualifying, the tilt against the Soca Warriors gives the players an opportunity to stake their claim for spots.
“These last two weeks have been an absolute pleasure. The hard work and determination demonstrated by the entire group confirm that the player pool is headed in the right direction,” Berhalter said. “As we transition to Orlando, we switch gears and focus on competing as we prepare to face Trinidad and Tobago.”
Tessmann, 19, looks to make his senior team debut in the international friendly after earning a spot on the USMNT roster. He is also eligible to compete for a roster spot for the 2021 Concacaf Olympic Qualifying Championship to be played from March 18-30 in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Tanner player for BUSA from U6 until when he left for FC Dallas. His Parents PJ and Kelly are still great supporters of the program and we are all super proud of Tanner.
