Dribbling Session 1

Exercise 1

  • Dribble around the cones as shown in video using just one foot.
  • 3×45 second rounds on each foot (for 6 total rounds, 3 with right foot, 3 with left foot.)
  • Key coaching points; Keep ball close, small touches, head up, tight turns around cones.

 

Exercise 2- Inside Outside

  • Dribble within the box using the inside-outside combination.
  • 3×45 second rounds on each foot (for 6 total rounds, 3 with right foot, 3 with left foot.)
  • First round on each foot is learning the combination, rounds 2 and 3 count how many touches we can get!
  • Key coaching points; Keep ball close, small touches, head up, move the ball from side to side with each touch.

Exercise 3- Inside, Outside, Roll

  • Dribble within the box using the inside-outside-roll combination.
  • 4×45 second rounds (30 second rest), we should look to switch feet every time we complete the combination
  • First 2 rounds are learning the combination, rounds 3 and 4 count how many touches we can get!
  • Key coaching points; Keep ball close, small touches, head up, move the ball from side to side with each touch, the ball should travel across our body to our other foot with the sole roll.

Exercise 4- Freestyle Dribble

  • Dribble within the box using any surface and foot we like.
  • 4×45 second rounds (30 second rest), try and get as many touches as we can in each round and be creative with the ball.
  • Key coaching points; Keep ball close, small touches, head up, be creative!
