BUSA is proud to be the managing partner for OLS Soccer, and we are excited to offer our services and programs to the OLS students. Our goal is to grow the club and add many new training and developmental opportunities for the players.  In addition, we want to provide a “total soccer” atmosphere to OLS Soccer which is the recreational component, and the competitive component combined.  This “total soccer” program is not available to many cities in this area.

Please take time to review the information below, and be sure to register your child for the Spring.  We are looking forward to a fun and enjoyable season.

INTRODUCING

THE LEGION FC EXPERIENCE

Birmingham United Soccer Association and Legion FC have entered into a partnership agreement.

As part of the Legion FC Experience, All registered recreational Alabaster players may Opt-In for the following:

  • 4 Season Tickets to the Legion FC home games. (Games Thru July 1)
  • Field access at Protective Stadium before and/or after Legion FC games on dates selected by Legion FC;
  • Attendance at the Legion FC clinic at Protective Stadium with Legion FC coaches and players;
  • A ten percent (10%) discount on Legion FC merchandise
  • A Legion FC / BUSA/AFC co-branded t-shirt;

All the above will be available at the following substantially discounted “opt” in rate: $30.00 per recreational player.

Note: All players will be placed in their appropriate age groups. Playing up in age group will be allowed, and is chosen in the registration process.  We will work with team formation to allow for kids to play together in grades, thereby allowing certain ages to combine.

Sunday Soccer

This program is for U4 and U5 players, birth year 2020 and 2021.

WE WILL ATTEMPT TO HAVE FULL TEAMS FOR THESE AGES, HOWEVER IF WE ARE SHORT, WE WILL COMBINE WITH A BUSA TEAM FOR PLAY.

Play is Sunday afternoons, 2 PM START TIME.

Fields location is the Brookwood Forest Elementary School in Mt Brook.

Program is a 7 weeks.

General Information

  •  Coaches are needed for all age groups.  (Please register to coach using link below.)
  •  Coaches’ Meeting (required for all coaches) – Wednesday March 12, 6:00 pm at Heardmont Park Senior Center.
  •  Parents will be asked to help coach so please come prepared. (Don’t worry. It will be fun and easy!)
  •  Team color Uniform Shirt is provided and handed out at first session.
  •  Shorts and socks are not provided. (Navy or Black are recommended.)
  •  End-of-season trophies presented.

 Intramural Soccer

This program is for U6-U8 players, birth years 2019-2017.

Practices are scheduled at Brookwood Forest Elementary school, day will be coordinated with coaches  (coach may request different)

Games are Saturday mornings, 8:15, 9:45, and 11:30 am.

Jersey is provided for all players.  Black shorts and socks purchased by parents.

Practices are to be held at the Brookwood Forest Elementary school fields.

OLS Coaches and Director will assign practice days for teams.

COACHES MEETING ON Friday February 28 at TBD PM AT THE HEARDMONT PARK SENIOR CENTER.  Address is 5458 Cahaba Valley Rd.

Games begin on March 15, 2025, and are played on Saturday mornings.  Skip Spring Break Weekends, Then Resume April 5.

The Advanced Training Program is a program designed for Recreational players ages 6-10 who want a soccer practice in addition to those already scheduled with their Recreational teams.

These extra training sessions will be conducted by BUSA Academy Program coaches who are licensed and trained to work with children these ages.

Advanced Training Program is held on Wednesday nights, at Larry Simmons Stadium in Alabaster.

This program is HIGHLY recommended for all players.

Overview

BUSA’S Academy Program provides a developmentally appropriate soccer environment for kids to make optimal developmental gains as soccer players, have fun and return to play soccer next year.

We strive to develop players with mastery of fundamental soccer skills who have a solid foundation of basic soccer decision-making. Accomplishing this goal creates players with the foundation necessary to compete at the next level of play.

Birmingham United Soccer Association and Legion FC have entered into a partnership agreement.

As part of the Legion FC Experience, All registered recreational players will receive the following:

  • 2 Season Tickets to the Legion FC home games.
  • Field access at Protective Stadium before and/or after Legion FC games on dates selected by Legion FC;
  • Attendance at the Legion FC clinic at Protective Stadium with Legion FC coaches and players;
  • A ten percent (10%) discount on Legion FC merchandise

For a family with more than one recreational players, the family will receive Four (4) Season Tickets to the Legion FC home games.

In Addition:  All registrants may add Two (2) additional season tickets, and a Legion FC Logo T-shirt for $25.

SPRING 2025  AGE CHART

  • DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS FEBRUARY 2
  • Most Teams compete with other BUSA teams throughout the area.  We will not be putting our teams in the Futures League unless numbers require it. 
  • Teams will be formed by February 23, 2025.  Players will be contacted after this date.
  • Coaches are needed for all age groups. (Please indicate at Registration)
  • Coaches Meeting (required for all coaches) – Sunday February 23 at TBD pm at  –  Heardmont Park Senior Center, 5458 Cahaba Valley Rd.
  • Practices may begin the week of February 24, 2025.

Note:  All players will be placed in their appropriate age group. Playing up in age group will be allowed but could be subject to a staff evaluation.

  • U10 practice at Dunnavant Valley Fields or Forest Park – Mon/Wed OR Tue/Thur 5:30 – 7 pm
Mt. Brook (North) Practices
  • U9 practice at Mt. Brook High School   –  Tue/Thur – 5:30 – 7 pm
  • U10 practice at Mt. Brook High School   –  Mon/Wed – 5:30 – 7 pm 

IF WE HAVE MORE NORTH TEAMS THAN FIELD SPACE AT MBHS, TEAMS WILL BE ADDED TO THE RATHMELL SPORTS PARK FIELD.

  • Practice times and locations for Under-11 and older will be determined by the coach after teams are formed.
  • Games begin on March 15 and are played on Saturdays with possible Sunday afternoon or Friday evening dates.

FAQs

What does my child need to bring?

Each Rec player will need a soccer ball (U9-U12 use size 4, U13 and up use size 5), water bottle, shin guards, and soccer cleats. Baseball and football cleats are not permitted.

How do I purchase a jersey?

All uniforms can be found on the soccer.com club site (https://www.soccer.com/club/14004100). A link will also be sent to each registrant at the beginning of the season.

What league does my child participate in?

Your child is part of the Central Alabama Soccer League (CASL) and play against teams and clubs from the local metropolitan area.

Where are practices located?

Practice locations are based on the location where you registered.

Where are my games played?

At least half of the games are home games at your typical practice field. The remaining games are played at the opponents field or a neutral field location.

  • North (Mt. Brook) will practice at Brookwood Forest Elementary.
  • South (North Shelby) teams will practice at Heardmont Park or Dunnavant valley Fields (formerly Sportsblast). 
  • Chelsea-area teams will practice at Forest Park, Mt Laurel, or Dunnavant Valley Fields.

Each age group will practice as follows:

Advanced Training Program

(Former Junior Academy Program)

The Advanced Training Program is a program designed for Recreational players ages 6-8 who want a soccer practice in addition to those already scheduled with their Recreational teams.

These extra training sessions will be conducted by BUSA Academy Program coaches who are licensed and trained to work with children these ages.

Advanced Training Program is held on Friday nights, at north and south locations.

This program is HIGHLY recommended for all players.
